Visit Madame Tussauds Nashville

Despite my daughter and I coming off a red eye flight and a long day touring Nashville, wrapping up our day at Madame Tussauds Nashville was amazing. We had a bazillion laughs, a few frustrations figuring out a selfie stick, and lots of photos with music legends.

If you’ve got plans to visit Nashville, here’s what you can expect at Madame Tussauds Nashville.

Step Back in Time to Early Country Music

As you enter the museum, you’re greeted by a few stars like Bob Dylan and Billie Holiday. That’s just to get you warmed up for the main act.

After the first room, you enter a lounge area. Take a seat, and watch a short video about country music and the stars and legends you’ll see at the museum. Then it’s off to the old-time recording studio with some of the early stars.

We’d visited the Patsy Cline Museum earlier in the day. When my daughter saw Patsy standing in a recording booth, she went over a grabbed a selfie. She wasn’t thrilled about grabbing a guitar and sitting in a stool next to Little Jimmy Dickens.

I blamed her lack of sleep on the photo where she wanted to pick Hank Williams’ nose. (Teenagers! Sheesh!)

Once you exit the recording studio, you meet stars like Kenny Rogers, Loretta Lynn and Waylon Jennings. But my favorite picture of the night goes to the photo of my daughter with Minnie Pearl. They’re like two peas in a pod. Haha!

But before you get a little more modern, don’t miss Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins.

Meet Legends from Other Genres of Music

When you think of Nashville, you probably think of country music. But Madame Tussauds Nashville covers more than twangy country music. You meet the stars from other popular genres.

Jazz music is probably my favorite. So a quick photo with legends Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong made for a fun night.

The Soul Lounge with Stevie Wonder at the piano and Diana Ross in a mirror dress took us to a whole different musical era.

Before you meet the likes of Ozzy Osborne or Kid Rock, don’t miss your chance to throw on some leather and a biker helmet and grab a photo on a motorcycle. Vroom! Vroom!!

Pose with Modern Pop Music Stars

If your music tastes are a little less country and a little more pop, then you’ll love this next section. Perform on stage with Beyonce, or dance to the beats with Justin Timberlake.

You can even sit at the keyboard and play a tune with Bruno Mars or wonder what Miley Cyrus was thinking as she sat on a wrecking ball in her underwear. Don’t miss a photo op with Rihanna, before you head backstage with some of the country music stars you’d expect to see in Nashville.

Head Back Stage with Today’s Country Music Stars

After a long day, it felt great to grab a quick nap on the couch while Blake Shelton rolled off a few tunes on his guitar. Faith Hill stands in the wings, dolled-up and ready to go on stage. If you need a moment to check your hair before you head to the stage, don’t pass up the lighted dressing room mirror.

If Tim McGraw is more your style, throw on a cowboy hat and catch a photo with him.

Once you’ve had your fill of backstage, you’re ready to hit the stage and sing your heart out with the best in country music.

The Finale at the Grand Ole Opry

It’s always fun to pretend. And a visit to Madame Tussauds Nashville gives you lots of ways to do that. While on stage, step up to the microphone, surrounded by some of the biggest stars in country music, and listen to the fans cheer you on.

Pretend you’re singing on stage at the Grand Ole Opry – then open your eyes and note it’s only wallpaper with images of an auditorium full of fans. But that’s okay. My voice isn’t something people would pay to listen to. Trust me. 😉

While on stage, grab some photos with stars like Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood and Jason Aldean.

When your on-stage performance is complete, head off stage and your tour to Madame Tussauds Nashville is complete – unless you plan to buy something from the gift shop.

Photo Tips for Your Visit to Madame Tussauds Nashville

There’s nothing worse than completing a museum on a long-distance trip, and finding out your photos are horrible when you get back home. Here are a few tips to help reduce that “Achy breaky heart.”

  • When you take a selfie with a wax figure, make sure the eyes of the figure are looking at the camera. It looks off if you’re looking at the camera, and the music star is looking somewhere else.
  • The lights are low in the museum. The stars are lit up, but make sure your camera performs well in low light. Otherwise, you’ll end up with blurry or grainy photos.
  • If you use your cell phone as your camera, use the better camera lens on the phone. It’s usually the one on the backside of the phone. When you’re in camera mode, the volume buttons should trigger the shutter.
  • When taking selfies, take several photos with slight position adjustments to the camera. This will allow you some options to ensure you have the elements you want – or don’t want – in the photo.

If you enjoy wax museums, check out Madame Tussauds Orlando in Florida. It’s got a different take on history, TV stars, musicians and more.
