6 Best Hotels Within Walking Distance of Disneyland

When planning a Disneyland vacation, location matters more than almost anything else. After spending all day zigzagging through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure, the last thing most families want is a long walk back to their hotel.

That’s why I always recommend choosing a hotel within walking distance of Disneyland whenever possible.

The hotels on this list are all approximately 0.3 to 0.7 miles from the Disney Esplanade, making the walk roughly 8 to 15 minutes. That may not sound like a huge difference, but after you’ve logged 20,000+ steps in the parks, saving an extra half mile at the end of the night feels like a gift. Plus, if you’re traveling with little ones who still need afternoon naps, being able to get back to your room in 10 minutes instead of 30 can make a huge difference.

Here are my picks for the 6 best walkable Disneyland hotels, listed from closest to farthest from the Disney Esplanade.

1. Anaheim Camelot Inn & Suites

Distance to Disneyland: 0.3 miles (approximately 8-minute walk)

If your top priority is staying as close to Disneyland as possible without paying Disney-owned hotel prices, the Anaheim Camelot Inn & Suites is hard to beat.

Located directly on Harbor Boulevard, this hotel sits just across the street from the Disneyland pedestrian entrance. The walk is short enough that returning to the room for a break, a nap, or a forgotten item is actually realistic.

Our family stayed here for a trip several years ago – when our kids were much younger. We absolutely loved the proximity to the parks, and the connecting rooms we were able to get so we could put the kids to bed without having to go to bed ourselves.

Why Families Love It

  • One of the closest off-site hotels to Disneyland
  • Spacious rooms and family suite options
  • Heated rooftop pool and hot tub
  • Mini refrigerators and microwaves in many rooms
  • Excellent value compared to Disney-owned resorts

For families who want convenience without sacrificing their budget, Camelot Inn consistently ranks among the best Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels.

2. Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort

Distance to Disneyland: 0.5 miles (approximately 10-minute walk)

The Fairfield Inn Anaheim Resort is one of my favorite hotels for Disneyland visitors because it combines a fantastic location with the reliability of a Marriott property. There’s also a Hidden Mickey at the hotel you can only spot from above. 😉

Located right on Harbor Boulevard, this hotel offers a quick walk to Disneyland while still providing many of the comforts travelers expect from a major hotel brand.

Plus, it’s a Marriott Brand hotel, making it perfect for Bonvoy Members.

Why Families Love It

  • Marriott Bonvoy points eligible
  • Recently refreshed guest rooms
  • Family-friendly room configurations
  • Pool and recreation area
  • Quick walk to Disneyland security and the Esplanade

This is a great choice for travelers who want modern accommodations and the confidence that comes with a nationally recognized hotel brand.

3. Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance

Distance to Disneyland: 0.5 miles (approximately 10-minute walk)

If you’re traveling with younger kids, this may be the most family-focused hotel on the list.

The Courtyard Anaheim Theme Park Entrance is famous for its incredible water playground, making it feel more like a mini resort than a standard hotel. Combine that with guest rooms with bunk beds and the short distance to the park entrance, and you’ll want to move here permanently.

Why Families Love It

  • Large water park and splash areas
  • Spacious rooms designed for families
  • Bunk bed room options available
  • Starbucks on-site
  • Easy walk to Disneyland

Many families choose this hotel specifically because the water area gives kids something exciting to do on non-park days or during afternoon breaks.

Exterior entrance of Castle Inn & Suites, a castle-themed hotel within walking distance of Disneyland in Anaheim, California

4. Castle Inn & Suites

Distance to Disneyland: 0.5 miles (approximately 12-minute walk)

The medieval-themed Castle Inn & Suites delivers exactly what many Disneyland guests are looking for: affordability, convenience, and family-friendly accommodations. The added “Storybook” feel also creates the magic your young princes and princesses may be looking for.

It’s close enough to walk comfortably but often comes in at a lower price point than some of the larger branded hotels nearby.

Why Families Love It

  • Family suites available
  • Free parking (a big money saver in Anaheim)
  • Outdoor pool and hot tub
  • Affordable rates
  • Easy walk to Disneyland

For travelers focused on maximizing value, Castle Inn & Suites remains one of the best budget-friendly options within walking distance of Disneyland.

5. The Anaheim Hotel

Distance to Disneyland: 0.5 miles (approximately 11-minute walk)

Formerly known as the Anaheim Plaza Hotel, The Anaheim Hotel combines a retro California vibe with one of the best locations near Disneyland.

The property is located across the street from Disneyland and next to the Anaheim GardenWalk shopping and dining district. One of our favorite things about this hotel… The Pizza Press restaurant. The pizzas work great for family dinner, without the theme-park prices.

Why Families Love It

  • Across the street from Disneyland Resort
  • Olympic-sized swimming pool
  • Nine acres of gardens and open space
  • Many rooms feature a balcony or patio
  • Adjacent to Anaheim GardenWalk for dining and entertainment

Families looking for a classic Anaheim resort atmosphere often find The Anaheim Hotel to be a great balance between value, location, and amenities.

Exterior entrance of Portofino Inn & Suites Anaheim, a family-friendly hotel within walking distance of Disneyland Resort

6. Anaheim Portofino Inn & Suites

Distance to Disneyland: 0.7 miles (approximately 15-minute walk)

While Anaheim Portofino Inn & Suites is the farthest hotel on this list, it’s still close enough that many Disneyland visitors comfortably walk to and from the parks each day.

What makes this property stand out is its larger rooms and family-focused accommodations. We loved the room layouts, giving the kids a separate area to sleep, with bunk beds. It was perfect for our family vacation to Disneyland.

Why Families Love It

  • Spacious suites for larger families
  • Budget-friendly rates
  • Convenient location near Anaheim GardenWalk
  • On-site pool and recreation areas
  • Good value for guests who need extra space

For families traveling with multiple children or larger groups, the additional room can be well worth the slightly longer walk.

Why Staying Within Walking Distance Matters

Many first-time Disneyland visitors underestimate just how important hotel location becomes during a multi-day vacation.

When you’re:

  • Pushing strollers
  • Taking midday naps
  • Carrying souvenirs
  • Managing tired kids
  • Walking 20,000+ steps per day

Saving even 10 to 15 minutes each way can make a huge difference.

That’s why these six hotels represent some of the best values near Disneyland. They keep you close enough to enjoy the parks without paying Disney-owned hotel prices.
