Omega Mart is an Immersive and Unique Shopping Experience in Las Vegas

You’ve likely wandered through your run-of-the-mill grocery store to buy bread, milk or even eggs. But have you ever picked up a can of dehydrated water, or seen a can of peanuts touted as nut-free? Meow Wolf’s Omega Mart in Las Vegas will leave you wondering why more grocery stores don’t have the creative juices flowing like they do.

If you want a truly unique grocery shopping experience, plan to visit Omega Mart at Area 15 in Las Vegas. Here’s a rundown on a few things to help you plan your grocery-shopping experience. But I’m not going to give away too much when it comes to secret passages, kidnapped owners or hidden treasures.

Info on Tickets to Omega Mart in Las Vegas

Like most places, it’s best to book tickets in advance of your visit, especially if your itinerary isn’t very flexible. We had some friends who visited Vegas and weren’t able to get tickets because they were sold out. Plus, I’m a planner, so I like to get things in advance so I know I’m set.

Book your tickets to Omega Mart online. You can select the date of your visit, and the arrival time. Omega Mart is open 7 days a week, and arrival times typically go from 10 a.m. to 10:20 p.m., though it may vary based on holidays or other activities.

Ticket prices range from $49 to $64 and are determined by the date of the week you plan to visit. Weekends tend to be higher than weekdays, along with various holidays.

Omega Mart is located inside Area 15, an immersive entertainment and events district in Las Vegas. You can access Omega Mart by going through a quick security check and entering the large warehouse-looking building. Once inside, Omega Mart is located on your left side, so you can get in line to enter the creative supermarket. It’s sort of like arriving at the mall and finding a large department store inside, with a food court and other shops around.

Explore Whimsical Items at the Grocery Store

After scanning your tickets and dropping off any large backpacks or coats at the Coat Check, your experience can truly begin. You can spend a few minutes or an entire hour exploring the grocery store. It’s setup as a real store, and you can even purchase many of the items found on its shelves. To give you an idea of what you’ll find, here’s a very short list:

  • Cans of dehydrated water
  • Nut-free salted peanuts
  • Plausible deniability laundry detergent
  • Mammoth chunks
  • Medication organized for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (WTF) 😉

Beyond the typical stocked shelves of the grocery story, you’ll also find a produce stand. There are apples you can make laugh, along with other whimsical creatures and items.

In the back of the store, you’ll find the dairy section along with the butcher block. There’s so much creativity in the store that you’ll want to be sure and read all of the signs and products as you wander. You’ll also want to look for any hidden doors, as there are two or three of them that will lead you to the backend of the grocery store where things start to get crazy.

Oh, and if you hear one of the red telephones ringing… answer it!

Find Your Way Behind the Storefront

If you’re skilled enough to find one of the hidden hallways to the backend of the grocery store, you’ll be able to wander and explore some very creative art installations. One of the main ones – mainly because it’s where most people end up when they reach the back end – is a large room with projections on what looks like a sandstone wall (as seen above).

And don’t think that hidden entrances are only from the front of the store to the back. We found one that led us through a tunnel like a mole or something, headed up to the second floor. But before you start venturing to the other floor, make your way around the different areas on this floor.

It’s hard to describe each of the exhibit areas, because they’re so unique and include a variety of elements. But don’t rush through each room – take the time to read and explore. My wife loved pushing buttons, opening drawers, looking through things and trying to find those “extras” that make the experience different for everyone.

There are multiple ways to navigate up to the second floor – stairs, tunnels, ladders, etc. So once you’ve wandered around the main floor, head up any of those methods and begin your exploration of the second floor.

Visit the Grocery Store’s Offices on the Second Floor

Similar to the backend of the store, the second floor has more of an office feel. After all, the managers and employees of Omega Mart had to office somewhere. As you work your way through the rooms of the second floor, look around in each room to see what fun selfie or photo you can take. There are some fun backgrounds and places to sit and just watch people walk through.

One of the more popular rooms is where the calls originate from for those red phones in the grocery store. The people on the other end of the phone were actually people calling from the offices. So make sure you’re nice and respectful on whichever end of the call you’re on.

I was fascinated with one of the rooms, where lasers were actually strings on an instrument. You could wave your hand over the beams and the sound of that “string” would be made. That’s just another example of the unique and interactive exhibits found throughout Omega Mart.

Once you’ve wandered through all the areas of the upper floor and tried your hand at the many interactive areas, you can make your way back to the main floor to hit up the last element of Omega Mart – the Datamosh Bar. I do think that if you didn’t know that bar was there, you’d just think it was more of the Omega Mart decor. After all, it just looks like a pharmacy.

Check out the drinks served at the Datamosh Bar to see what concoctions you’ll want to try during your visit.
