Donate to DonorConnect

Description

In 2023, I am working to raise funds for DonorConnect to help them raise awareness around the need for organ donation. In fact, I will donate 50% of every travel guide sold on my website to DonorConnect.

Why? Because I’ve seen a number of people who received a donated organ and were able to get back to doing the activities they love – hiking, spending time with grandkids, fishing, travel and more. Seventeen people die everyday while waiting on the list for that life-saving organ. More than 100,000 people across the United States are on the organ transplant list, and it keeps growing.

The solution

Get more people to register as an organ donor. Plus, encourage people who are healthy enough (and willing) to register as a living donor. Did you know that a person can donate a kidney or portion of their liver to someone in need through living donation? I’ve actually been in the OR and seen a kidney removed from one person and transplanted into another person. Both the donor and the recipient are active adults and both are so grateful for the “Gift of Life”.

For many years, I’ve seen the TV spots encouraging people to mark YES on their driver license, indicating their willingness to be an organ donor. I’ve also participated in DonorConnect’s annual Gift of Life Walk/Run to raise awareness and funds for the cause. I’m hoping to do more this year by donating 50% of my travel guide sales to DonorConnect, and giving people the opportunity to donate to them as well.

Who is DonorConnect?

They are the federally designated, nonprofit community service organization dedicated to the recovery and transplantation of organs and tissues. They serve residents in Utah, southeastern Idaho, western Wyoming, and Elko, Nevada.

Consider Donating $10 to DonorConnect

I chose DonorConnect, because as I’ve engaged with them over the years, their focus is on those in need of live-saving organs. The funds they receive from donations goes to raising awareness of the growing need for donors. Public education is crucial to their efforts, and volunteers share their stories at health fairs, with service organizations and even in Drivers Education courses at high schools.

My ask is that you donate $10 via this page, and 100% of that donation will be given to DonorConnect.
