Portofino Inn & Suites in Anaheim: Hotel Review with Photos
Families flock to Anaheim to enjoy a Disneyland vacation. Or maybe it’s a day at Knott’s Berry Farm or one of the many beaches in the area. With so many Good Neighbor Hotels to choose from, one I think you should consider is the Portofino Inn & Suites in Anaheim. Our family spent a night there during our recent Southern California vacation and had a fabulous time.
Here’s our review of the Portofino Inn & Suites and why the hotel was the perfect place for our family of six. But it also works for a couple’s getaway!
Multiple Room Types to Accommodate Your Needs
Our visits to Southern California have fluctuated between weekend getaways for my wife and I to full-family vacations. We’ve also worked in a kid or two for some business trips. So a hotel that can accommodate two people or a family of six is important. That’s where the multiple room options available at the Portofino Inn & Suites Anaheim comes in handy.
Option #1 – Kids Suite
Our recent visit brought six of us to the fun of SoCal. We stayed in the Kids Suite, which was Galaxy Themed. That meant the sheets, pillowcases, rugs and wall decor were Star Wars. But in addition to the fun decor, the room layout was even better. One half of the room was a bunk bed and a pull-out sofa bed – perfect for four kids. The French doors allowed the room to split in half so kids could sleep while mom and dad watched a TV show on the king bed. The bathroom had a shower, toilet and sink, but there was a separate sink outside of the bathroom that kids could use to brush their teeth without having to interrupt the person in the shower.

Option #2 – 2 Queen Deluxe Room
If we were traveling with only one or two of our kids, we’d go with the 2 Queen Deluxe Room. It’s the type of room you typically expect in a hotel. These rooms also have a balcony, so it’s a great place to enjoy some down time.
Option #3 – King Suite
The final room type is for the couple’s getaway (but can also work for a family of four). The King Suite has two sides to the room, separated by a set of sliding French Doors. One side has the king bed, while the other half is a living room area. However, the sofa in the living room converts to a sofa sleeper, thus accommodating two kids or another couple.
The rooms also include a microwave, iron and ironing board, a refrigerator, and a coffee/tea maker.
Walking Distance to the Disneyland Parks
The distance between the Portofino Inn & Suites Anaheim and the Disneyland entrance is .7 miles. Maps clock it at 14 minutes for walking. But with that extra kick in your step because you’re going to Disneyland, you can probably make it in 10 minutes. 😉

If there was a back entrance to California Adventure, just behind the Radiator Racers, the walk would be less than five minutes. That’s how close you are to Disneyland. But since you have to enter from the Disneyland Esplanade and go through the security checkpoint, it’s back to the 10-15 minute walk. But totally worth it. I love the proximity of this hotel to the parks.
If you aren’t interested (or are unable) in walking, you can take public transit. ART (Anaheim Regional Transportation) is an option. You can get more details about ART, including hours of operation, schedules, tariffs and more on their website.
Fitness Center, Pool, Jacuzzi and More
The hotel has a solid list of amenities. But one that many families will look for is a swimming pool. Sure enough, they have one of those. We enjoyed splashing around, competing with each other to see who could hold their breath the longest, and trying to deliver the best CANNONBALL!! But if you’re looking for something to use to relax your feet from a long day of walking the parks, the jacuzzi is the way to go. Oh, it was so relaxing!
There’s also on-site complimentary parking for hotel guests. They have uncovered parking spots, but they also have a small parking garage on-site, too. If both of those options are full, there is a nearby parking garage they can connect you with, so just talk with the person at the front desk when you arrive. Valet parking is an option, too. If you go that route, be sure to tip the valet.
If, during your hours in the Disneyland parks, you didn’t get enough steps in for the day, you can always hit up the fitness center. They have a few different machines available so you can get a little workout in if needed. There are also some free weights you can use to work those muscle groups. 😉
If you’re stay is longer than a day or two, or you have a young kid that spits up incessantly, they do have on-site, coin-operated guest laundry as well. That way you don’t have to try and wash the clothes in your bathroom sink.
Additional Family Fun Options at the Hotel
I was pleasantly surprised to see an on-site game room, right next to the pool. There was air hockey, a Fast and Furious arcade game and a few other “Claw” type games. Bring a roll of quarters so your kids can spend some time being kids. I do think the arcade and gaming options rotate out, so you may find different games when you visit.

If you’re looking for a family board game to play in the room, check in at the front desk to see what options are available. We almost always bring some games with us when we drive places, but we find that we rarely actually use them because we’re so busy exploring. Oh well.
How to Book Your Stay at the Portofino Inn & Suites in Anaheim
You can book your stay at the Portofino Inn & Suites in Anaheim directly with the hotel. You can visit their website, enter the dates of your visit and book your getaway. Since the hotel is listed as a Good Neighbor Hotel, you can also buy your tickets to Disneyland on their website, or on-site at the front desk.
Another option is to book your vacation package through my friends at Get Away Today. You can book a hotel + Disneyland ticket package, and if you use my promo code – Carltonaut10 – you can save a few dollars.
Regardless of which booking route you take, I think you’ll enjoy staying at the Portofino Inn & Suites in Anaheim.
Proximity to Other Area Attractions
Our most recent trip to Anaheim wasn’t for a Disneyland getaway. We do have one planned for late 2023. This visit was to explore some of the non-Disneyland attractions in the area. But staying at the Portofino Inn & Suites in Anaheim puts you in a great position to experience Southern California.
- Disneyland: Less than one mile
- Knott’s Berry Farm: 7 miles
- Angels Stadium (Major League Baseball): 3 miles
- Honda Center (hockey arena): 3 miles
- The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum: 11 miles
- Historic Santa Ana District: 6 miles
- South Coast Plaza (shopping mall): 12 miles
- Newport Beach: 18 miles
- Ocean kayaking at Laguana Beach: 24 miles
- Universal Studios Hollywood: 37 miles
- California Science Center: 35 miles
There are so many things to do in the area besides Disneyland, that I think it’s worth coming and exploring it all.
