Best Hotel in Paris for Families: Hotel du Levant
We took two of our kids to experience Paris last month. We’d been saving for a few years in order to make it happen. But one of the challenges we have when booking family trips is finding an inexpensive hotel that can accommodate kids. My experience with hotels in Paris is that they’re super small. I also wanted to find one that had a complimentary breakfast in the morning so we didn’t have to worry about finding breakfast on our own. After doing some research on Booking.com, we found the best hotel in Paris for families: Hotel du Levant
Here’s a rundown on why we think it’s the best hotel in Paris for families, and one we recommend families (or even couples) check out when booking a trip to Paris.
Location, Location, Location
The three most important things in real estate is location, location, location. When booking a hotel, I think those same rules apply – that and free breakfast. 😉
Hotel du Levant is located in what I think is the best spot in Paris. It’s in the Latin Quarter, which is just south of Notre Dame, across the Seine River. That means that Hotel du Levant is within walking distance of some pretty cool spots to explore in Paris.
- Notre Dame Cathedral
- Sainte Chappelle
- Le Conciergerie (14th century royal palace and prison)
- Monnaie de Paris (the Paris Mint)
- Baking and cooking classes at Le Foodist
- The Pantheon
- Shakespeare & Co. Bookstore
Within 100 yards of the hotel you’ll find so many spots to enjoy some amazing foods. CousCous, raclette, kebabs and of course… crepes. We enjoyed a strawberry and nutella crepe pretty much every night before bed. If you like dancing and jazz music, plan to hit up Le Caveau de la Huchette – it’s just down the street from the hotel. You may also hear music coming from a piano bar. There’s a great night life, so you won’t miss out on anything.
The noise from outside isn’t enough to keep kids and parents awake at night. Another reason why it’s the best hotel in Paris for families.
Plus, there are several mainline metro stops within walking distance. Those stops link you to every train you need to get around the city and explore the museums, history, palaces and more.
Great boutique Hotel in Paris
Outside of the location, Hotel du Levant is the best hotel in Paris for families because it’s not a chain. Why is that important? Because boutique hotels have a certain feel about them. Our kids were willing to speak French to the front desk person to ask for the room key. We even took a moment to just sit in the front lobby area and look at the books or even play a game of chess.
While booking our room online, I saw photos of a few of the rooms. Whether it was the art or the drapes, each room was a little unique. There’s just something fun about a boutique hotel as opposed to a chain.
Full breakfast is included
I always try to get a hotel room at a place with breakfast included. With a family of seven (though we only had four of us on this trip), I’m always looking for ways to save on breakfasts. Eating breakfast at a restaurant is often too expensive. We usually grab milk, cereal, bowls and spoons – or even some muffins – to eat. But when a hotel, especially one in another country, offers a local breakfast, I’m sold.
At Hotel du Levant, they have a whole dining area setup for breakfast. Enjoy a piece of fruit, a bowl of cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese slices or ham slices. You can also grab a drink of juice or coffee. But the best part is probably the bread basket they brought out to our table. It included some pain au chocolats, croissants and some baguette. I’m probably drooling a little while writing this post because of the photo I edited of the delicious foods.
Rooms with Three Beds (one queen, two twins)
And the final reason this is the best hotel in Paris for families is because it offered more than just two queen beds. Some of the other hotels we stayed in on this trip had bunk beds. Those worked, but this room had one queen bed for my wife and I, and two separate twin beds for our two teenagers.
Hotel rooms are one of my biggest challenges when booking family trips. I hate having to grab two rooms. It’s even worse when the rooms aren’t adjoining. So finding a room where my two teens (a boy and a girl + step-siblings) didn’t have to share a bed was awesome. It gave them their own space.
Hotels in France often have the shower in a different room than the toilet. That makes it easy to use the toilet while someone is getting ready for the day. However, the toilet room doesn’t include a sink, so washing your hands afterward – with no access to the shower room – is a challenge.
Overall, we had a fabulous time at Hotel du Levant with no complaints. Having stayed in a few different hotels in Paris, this one is certainly the best hotel in Paris for families.

We’re starting to book our trip to Paris. Does this hotel have rooms big enough for a family of seven? We’re thinking an Airbnb maybe our only option with so many people.
Paris is AMAZING, so if you have any questions about how to maximize your time there or save some $$$, let me know. Sadly, finding a hotel in Paris (or most of Europe) that can accommodate seven people in one room isn’t likely. You would need to split into two rooms. But if you plan to stay in Paris, an AirBnB would probably be your best bet. If there’s one available in the Latin Quarter, which is where this hotel is, you’d likely love the location. Happy planning… and I look forward to hearing about your trip. 😃
