Hollywood Cars Museum: Vehicles from Film and TV shows

There are weird cars, classic cars, famous cars and decked out cars on display at the Hollywood Cars Museum in Las Vegas. It’s a real treat to wander through the garage and step back in time to the cars that made up some of the TV shows and movies I watched growing up.

Step away from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip and enjoy exploring the cars that have entertained viewers for decades.

Here’s a rundown of what you can expect and a few tips on how to get the most out of your visit to the Hollywood Cards Museum and Liberace Garage.

Tickets and Getting to the Hollywood Cars Museum

Purchase tickets in person at the front desk of the museum – cash only. They do have an ATM on site if you need to get cash, but if you plan in advance you can save the ATM fee. Unfortunately, there isn’t an option of purchasing them online.

The Hollywood Cars Museum is on the west side of I-15. From the south end of The Strip, take Tropicana Avenue west over the freeway. Head south on Dean Martin Drive and you’ll see the sign for the museum on the west side of the road.

My wife and I walked from our hotel on The Strip to the museum. It was a little bit of a walk, but it was doable. If you aren’t up for walking, you can take a cab or ride share (UBER or Lyft).

The museum is one building back from Dean Martin Drive. You’ll see a few famous cars out front, and that’s just a taste of what you’ll see inside the museum.

The Gallery of Vehicles in the Museum

As we worked our way through the museum, we took a lot of photos of the cars. I don’t want to share all the photos we shot – because then there would be no need for you to visit the museum. 😉

We walked past cars that were so small, they reminded me of the Little Tykes Cozy Coupe. Except these ones had engines and could drive on the road. Although I would feel so vulnerable pulling up next to a minivan in a car no larger than a folding chair.

Some of the cars were used in the actual movies or TV shows. Others are ones recreated by fans after the fact. Either way, it’s fun to relive shows from the 80s, action movies from the 90s, and even family classics.

Here’s a rundown of some of the famous cars you’ll definitely want a selfie with during your visit:

  • KITT from Knight Rider
  • Car from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
  • DeLorean from Back to the Future
  • Batmobile (from the TV show and Batman Returns)
  • Vehicles from Fast & Furious movies
  • General Lee from the Dukes of Hazzard TV show
  • Grand Torino from “Starsky and Hutch”
  • Lotus submarine car from James Bond
  • A large pink limousine with a hot tub in the back
  • Truck from the Beverly Hillbillies
  • Much more

We saw a few cars from movies that we didn’t recognize. There was one from the Harry Potter films that we couldn’t place. So I grabbed a photo of it and will watch the movie to see the car in action. There were a few like that, so I guess I have a list of movies and TV shows I need to watch now.

Explore the Liberace Garage

After making your way to the back of the museum, there’s a slight change of scenery. You’ll enter the Liberace Garage. One of the workers asked if we knew who Liberace was. We were honest and said… “We have no clue who he is.” They appreciated the honest and explained who he was.

Liberace was a performer and showman who made a name for himself in Las Vegas. He would perform at the hotels, and he would often be driven onto stage in very unique cars. For example, one Rolls Royce was covered in small mirror squares. Another one was bedazzled.

One of the most unique cars was a grand piano with wheels. I sent a quick cellphone photo of it to my mom because she’s a music teacher and I thought she’d get a kick out of it.

Use your cellphone to scan the QR codes next to each car so you can watch a little video and learn about the vehicle. You can catch a few glimpses of Liberace in action or talking about his unique vehicles.
